NEW YORK...(5/20) -- Juan Lagares will miss Tuesday's game because he remains in the Dominican Republic due to the death of a family member.

Sandy Alderson said the Mets will play a man down in the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers rather than place Lagares on the bereavement list.

The list would have allowed a replacement to be promoted, but also would have required Lagares to miss Wednesday's game, because it is a three-day roster move. Lagares is expected back in uniform on Wednesday.

Can anyone tell me why Juan fucking Centeno is currently on this roster instead of Kevin Plawecki or Taylor Teagarden ???

* Yes, I'm aware it's just to fill a need at the C position until Travis d'Arnaud gets back from the DL.
But 1 of the other 2 would be superior options IMHO.

Sandy needs to pull his fucking semper fi jar head out of his goddamn keister.

:wtf2:

Everyone knows baseball is the ultimate game of streaks and slumps, but it just seems the Mets are always mired in the latter for very long extended periods for some reason, and they are perpetually inept at maintaining any kind of positive momentum whatsoever.

NEW YORK -- Zack Greinke tipped his cap to the Mets on the day his streak of allowing two runs or fewer ended at 21 straight starts.

While two of the three runs charged to Greinke were unearned, the Mets also successfully drove up the ace's pitch count. He required 52 pitches to navigate the opening two innings and ultimately departed trailing 3-1 with his pitch count at 101 after five innings.

"That was the best any team’s taken my quality sliders and quality changeups all year,” Greinke said after the Dodgers' 5-3 loss to the Mets in which he received a no-decision.

Said Terry Collins: “We know Zack wasn’t real sharp tonight, the way that we’ve seen him. But I thought our guys did a great job of working the counts and getting some balls. We hit some balls pretty good and hit them at some people.”
