You're right, Kemp might find some semblance of his peak form. However, even in peak form he is a strikeout machine. Imagine what 20 million per year could do for our bullpen.

I also would like to imagine him not swinging low and away for the millionth time. I wonder what his average would look like if he cut the SO in half.

That's what I am thinking as well. Sure now Lester states he will return to Boston if traded and won't sign elsewhere but it he gets an offer that blows him out of the water and the Red Sox won't come close or match then why would he come back?

Beckett says they have the best fried chicken and beer in the world, said he used to eat buckets of chicken in the Red Sox nap room. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Fuck Lester, Dodgers don't need no player who don't want to be here.

He wants to be where ever he's getting paid. This isn't about team loyalty.

And that fact illustrates how arrogant the Red Sox have become as an organization. They not only condone it, they promote that sort of behavior. Thus, they'll lose 100 games this season.

Question: I am pretty much giving in that Lester will be traded, to who, no idea but he will...

So my question is: in 2015 (assuming the Red Sox don't have a plan to bring him back) WHO are they going to build their pitching staff around?

Buchholz. God I hope not
Owens get called up?
Doubrant = hell no
Workman - Doubt it
DeRosa - MAYBE
Lackey - Slight chance

I'm seeing Max Sherzer is a free agent next year and slightly younger than Lester. Other than that :noidea:

In other news, Scott Elbert just got reinstated off of the 60-day DL. Bullpen might be getting a little bit of help.

From what I have read, the Red Sox are hoping to trade him and they are going hard after him this offseason. Trying to get top prospects and get him back long term. I think the team that gets him is accepting a rental player.

Lester and Gomes traded to the Athletics for Cespedes.

A's also traded Milone to the Twins for Fuld, so the net is upgrading Milone to Lester, and downgrading from Cespedes to a platoon of Fuld/Gomes.

Cespedes has always been a bit overrated. For Oakland, his OBP isn't very impressive.

Probably the best offer Boston had for Lester though, no ones giving up good prospects for a potential rental and Cespedes is slightly younger than Kemp, less of an injury risk and less of a contract.

Cespedes will benefit from hitting at Fenway. Lester should do well in Oakland's stadium. Trades are always a gamble, but I think Oakland will definitely benefit having Lester during the Playoffs.
