i think hartnell has a lot more offensive ability than clarkson and i think clarkson brings more grit.. whether or not the numbers back that up, is still to be determined haha.. offensively i liken clarkson to talbot

update w/ numbers:

hartnell has scored 20 or more goals 6 times, clarkson only once (this year likely would've been a 2nd)

Last year he had 30 and this year he was on pace for 30. I think he's legit now. I just don't think we can afford him.

definitely not opposed to filpula (not sure that's the right spelling either haha).. i think he can play any forward position and is a decent 2nd line option, good 3rd line option

For the money he may be better than lecav I'd take a look.

Stars out and habs out apparently. Word is he wants to stay east. The flyers might actually get him. Interesting.

I predicted that he will land w the Flyers. The problem now is how many yrs and money are we talking? I still want Halak. We may not have extra money for him?

I really like this deal. Dredger just said in a video on tsn.ca that Lecavilier has already said he'd be willing to play the W too. So we now have the option of moving him or Schenn to W permanently. This will also help our 2nd unit PP and I could even see him quarterbacking it from the half boards like Giroux has been doing.

Possible powerplay lines:

Read-Giroux-Simmonds
Timonen-Voracek

Hartnell-Lecavalier-Schenn
Streit-Meszaros

Wow. Now I'm shocked. I can live w this. Great job Homer. Nice way to replace Briere. Excellent pickup. I thought Vinny was going to break bank. Love this! Get Halak and I'll be sporting wood for the 4th of July.

All I can say is wow I was thinking he'd get some stupid offer of 6 M or something. At this point I'd take Lecav over DB especially saving close to 2 M/year....

Ya know.. I don't hate it. Full no move as expected. That's a pretty solid cap hit. 5 years is a tad long, but not awful. Not bad homer.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, veteran forward Vincent Lecavalier has agreed to sign a five-year, $22.5 million deal with the Philadelphia Flyers. The deal will also include a full no-movement clause.

He has earned it

True just sucks that Philly's always the one paying for it. In any case just as long as he gets a second wind with the Flyers I'll be happy. Playing with some good young talent may just do it.

How? By playing with some other team for a while?

I mean, I'm not pissed at this signing ONE BIT, but NMCs on the first contract with a team are just kind of weird, you know? They should be a commitment from the team that, hey, we really like you and we'll keep you around because we've gotten to know and grow with each other over these last seasons. Other than Lecavalier getting to know the back of our net every time he's been in town, I don't know that that was necessarily occurred just yet...
