Can't argue with that cap hit, especially if he turns into a legitimate number 1. I would have preferred a bridge contract (2 years) so that we still had him as an RFA instead of him being UFA at 28 but he's locked up for the foreseeable future so can't argue with that.

Same thing I always said about the Henrique deal. Even if he makes no improvement over the second half of last year, this is already a good deal for the Devils. If he improves, this is a huge steal. Got him to give up three years of UFA, that's not laughing matter at all. HUGE.

I just hope that he shows the same ability we saw in the second half. New coaches, new system, and there is no guarantee that he plays the same way. That's my only concern.

Exactly, #1's are getting $6-7 these days. He's paid as a 2, with the very real potential to be a 1. Good Deal!

That's not even #2 money. That's 2nd pairing money. I mean Fayne got 3.5 from Edmonton, and he wasn't a 22 year old. This is a great deal.
