The unfortunate thing, not just with Kovy but with everybody, is we have a new assistant coach on offense that is supposed to be a PP whiz. One week is not enough time for his system to sink in with the players. We may not see results for the first month or so. Hope I'm wrong but things could be ugly right off the bat.

I was watching some Sharks PP footage and it seemed like they run a system that's closer to a 1-2-2 umbrella and a 1-3-1 umbrella.

The Devils ran a 2-2-1 last season with Parise at the side of the net .

Sounds like he's playing pretty well and scoring so I'd assume its better.

Also, says in one of the tweets that his family is already back in the US, no real suspense if that's the case.

Seems to be the new rep. I know they had talked about if or awhile so I guess the new guy decided it would be a good idea.

With that said, I'm ok with Kovy on the point but I think we have the personnel on D to have 2 defenders on the PP. Tallinder, Zids, Larsson, and to a lesser extent Harrold and Fayne are all offensive minded guys.

I like a powerplay that has motion. Kovalchuk moving down from the point to the low side. The devils are big on cycling but not on the pp? Motion creates emotion

The russian club gives the money to cover the buyout and gives beek $20 million as incentive to do it? Would beek turn that kind of "free money" down? That's not a bad return since it only cost him $3 million to sign him and how much salary $12? So far.


That's a real possibility if its even legal? But then again beek seems like a legit "fan owner" would also realize that there would be a huge fan backlash and would need to spend in the off season which there is a lot of ufa next summer
