What the Braves doing? They get rid of Jason Heyward, 25, .271/.351/.384, then dump Justin Upton, 27, .270/.342/.491. Why not dump $14M BJ Mendoza instead of $14M Justin Upton. I realize they added pitching in Miller and there are FA issues in the future but these are young proven players. Then throw in McCann, 29, .256/.336 /.461 (2013) . I guess the answers are in the farm system. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. :confused2:
We'll be in a close battle with the Phillies for last place. With a young core signed to long term deals, I think going into rebuild mode is a bit drastic.
And if we're in full rebuild mode, why sign Markakis to a 4 year deal?
