Is the new PlayStation worth waiting for?

Still rolling an Xbox 360. Probably going to roll to a PlayStation and PlayStation vue. Any reason I should wait for the new release this fall?

It will be 4k compatible that's about it. I have a 4k tv and battlefield 1 looks good. But how will it look in 4k with the new ps4? Who knows, I think I will invest as Asa Christmas present to myself.

No kidding. I bought the PS4 on launch day, and it wasn't even quite 3 years ago yet. And then watched as new games came out only for the ps3 and not the ps4 even after it launched.

And now they're already replacing it? Last system I ever buy.

That's why I always wait a few years to buy new systems. They usually put out a smaller, cheaper model by then. Not to mention most of the bugs/issues with the original are fixed with it.

It's not being replaced, just "upgraded". So it's still technically a "PS4", like the Xbox One S.

Got my PS4 Pro in today and finally got it set up to work on my new 4k/HDR set.

Took some time to get all the input bullshit/HDR compatibility turned on/etc.....but that was mostly because i hadn't used a hardwired/HDMI 4k connection yet on this TV. Just streamed Netflix in the past.

Now it's time for bed so no testing tonight. Will be starting a new game save of The Last of Us tomorrow night though.

It's not getting "replaced", they're just releasing a slightly beefier version of the same console. Did the PS3 Slim "replace" the PS3?

Not like Nintendo, which ended production on the Wii-U.

There is never a reason to buy a console at launch unless the launch day releases are really that good. Which they rarely ever are.

It looks a little better in 4k/HDR but not groundbreaking

if you have a TV with both of those features and are in the market for a PS4 then it is probably worth the extra $100 for the Pro. If you are in the market for a PS4 and don't have a TV with those features (and don't plan on having them in the near future) then save the $$ and get the slim.
