I can't think of a single great or even good QB who got in trouble in college. Can you?

I thought about Leinart too, but I think it was just a speeding ticket or something. I can't remember. Either way it backs up what I noticed...

Wasn't Rex Grossman caught ding whipits? Who else got in trouble in colllege at QB?

Damn....this is a pretty good point. I wouldn't say it means he'll suck, but going down the list of HOFs all have been solid citizens. Marino did have rumors of drug use prior to his draft, but no real trouble.

To be fair, Sick said "great or even good" when referring to a QB. I don't see now Namath qualifies. Take away his brash prediction, and he's Steve Deberg.

I'm verifying stats to back up my argument. Gimme a second.

It's really hard to tell. Way back then, the media espopsure of college players is not as widely spread as it is today. So you never know, who did what way back when...

Joe Namath career stats:
Games: 140
Games Started: 130
Record as a starter: 62-63-4 (I'm not sure how PFR.com came up with 129 games if he started 130)
Completions: 1886
Attempts: 3762
Completion percentage: 50.1
Yards: 27663
TD's: 173
TD percentage: 4.6
INT's: 220
INT percentage: 5.8
Yards per attempt: 7.4
QB Rating: 65.5

Steve Deberg's career stats:

Games: 206
Games Started: 140
Record as a starter: 53-86-1
Completions: 2874
Attempts: 5024
Completion percentage: 57.2
Yards: 34241
TD's: 196
TD percentage: 3.9
INT's: 204
INT percentage: 4.1
Yards per attempt: 6.8
QB Rating: 74.2

Thank the good lord. I want to punch a puppy in the face every time someone mentioned Namath in the great QB category. The guy was flat out awful. I simply cannot understand how someone with more INT's then TD's is considered great.

His brother is such a punk. Lookin' back, should have been a clue about Vick's psyche.

Absentee parents. You aren't born with that set of moral vacancy (not even a shot at the dogfighting thing; Marcus STOMPED Elvis Dumervil's knee in his final game as a Hokie). Those two were created.

That's why I think he's a punk. Moral vacancy is a very appropriate term and I think you're right. Vick seems to have gotten the wake-up call, time will tell if he truly has.
