Great first 10-15 minutes, but this movie is just mean and bleak. It's not what an Indiana Jones movie is supposed to be.

Whoever thought to make a bleak depressing story out of an Indy film? Just like LucasFilm did with Luke and Han, they brought down Indy and made him a sad pathetic old alcoholic. Why? And then added a completely unlikable character to berate Indy and humiliate him at every turn. If we supposed to root for her and accept her as the new face of the franchise, why did they have to make a complete asshole out of her?

It's looking like this movie will lose all the money in the world, and they deserve it.

I don't plan on ever watching this movie but for anyone who thinks Disney is the worst thing to happen to Lucasfilm...you may want to check this out:

Some of their movies suck and some are good, but they are having a really tough year at the Box office this year, with basically only GotG 3 being succesful.

BTW, It's looking like Indy 5 will be one of the biggest box office bombs of all time, even worse than The Flash.

Clearly there is a leadership issue when so many projects are failing

Yup… their budgets are out of control, maybe some execs are lining their pockets.

It is ridiculous that Indy is more expensive than Avengers Infinity War and the Star Wars movies.

The only one I can think of that made a decent amount of money this year is Guardians 3. To a lesser extent, maybe the Little Mermaid can count as well since it’s around the break even point.

While it still must be a big disappointment for Disney, considering that the original is widely beloved and is the movie that revived Disney, TLM will make money in the long run. The reality is that that movie shouldn't have cost 250M.

Quantummania was also a flop, and Elementals and Indy 5 are big bombs, and the rest of the year might not be that great for them. The Marvels should be ok if it is a good movie, but for some reason they also spent 200M+ on movies like "Haunted Mansion", which looks like another bomb.

I think Guardians is 2nd this year in total gross, Super Mario Brothers is #1 and Spider-Man ATSV is 3rd.

Yeah, they are spending too much money. Adjusting for inflation, Lilo and Stitch only cost Disney around $130 mil. (and we've had a lot of inflation)

Great action flick, story line was B+. If the film would've given me just a handful of LOL's it would have got me saying "it was great". Zero comedic writing.

Ok so it’s been a flop money wise, hasn’t started out good, BUT how is the movie itself ? Is it good ?

I liked it. I think everyone forgets what these movies are supposed to be. The Indy formula has always been cheesy fun, and this movie had a lot of that. Toss in some nostalgic easter eggs and a happy ending for an all time movie character and it was worth my 2 1/2 hours.

I didn't understand the movie
Indiana Jones goes after a mystical artifact. After many complex action sequences, a few dad-jokes and PG-13 romance, he finds it. However, due to vague circumstances he ends up without the artifact, but with a sense of accomplishment and a sweet leather bull whip and hat.

You can apply that to every Indiana Jones movie. It's not for everyone.
