i'd expect asche to shine now

i've always said he struggles for a month or so when he hits a new level. i was hoping it would change for the mlb level, but no dice. it's closing in on that this upcoming week. he now has a hit in 7 straight games (including today) and has been playing great defense. very confident he will have a solid september that will have everyone excited for next year.

That's what the Phillies desperately need right now. He needs to be good enough to discourage Amaro from panicking and signing a Polanco/Young/Rafael Furcal/Mark Derosa....etc. for a year, or worse for 2 years with options for more

i think he should be good to go. he made those few errors early on, but has looked great since. i think he would have to completely bomb to not have a starting job next season.

but then again, like you said, amaro. you just never know.

7-15 so far in september with a couple of homers. batting .333 since that 1-17 start and is 7-16 overall against lefties. jeaa jeahhh!

After watching asche's defense at 3B, it would be tough to move him to another position. So what to do about franco? He should be playing during september at 1B or in the outfield instead of frandsen, mayberry, martinez, etc. i'm very concerned that amaro is dumb enough to deal franco.
