I learned something about beer today

My brother told me that beer was first made by the Egyptians way back because of the terrible water. You could not drink it..so they made the beer and it was safe to drink. Must of been a lot of partying going on back then. Cheers !

there was a documentary a few years ago called "How Beer Saved the World". it talks about all the things like this.

they weren't as knowing back then about microscopic organisms, thus they mostly realized that less people died when drinking beer than when drinking the water. they probably didn't even realize it was due to the boiling process and alcohol content.

the documentary theorizes alot of other great things came about to: Pasteurization, refrigeration, railroad distribution, automatic bottling.

Kind of gross to think about the first 'beer'. Someone decided to drink the water that had left over bread sitting in it for a while.
