Bondra

and eff the HOF until he is in it.

*Golf Clap*

LOVED Bondra. Met him a few times when his kids played against my cousin's kids in the CBHA. Nice guy and WAAAY underrated.

Player wise, no class will compare to 07. Mark Messier, Ron Francis, Al MacInnis and Scott Stevens is as good as it gets.

You can probably thank the lockout for that. Chances are at least 1 of those guys plays in 04-05 if there was a season and wouldn't be available to go into the HOF until 08. Similar to how we saw a pretty strong rookie class in 05-06. I think that in addition to those guys you named there was 1 or 2 more shoe-ins that had to wait a year. I believe Larionov was 1 of them.

It's long past time that the Flames officially retire MacInnis' jersey (nobody has worn #2 for Calgary since Al left) . I know Al is closely tied to the St. Louis Blues organization and they have honored up with his jersey to the rafters (I think they put up a statue as well), but he put up some great numbers with the Flames and should be given the honour of seeing his jersey raised to the rafters.

Come on Ken King et al, do the right thing.

Yeah, not to mention he won a Stanley Cup and Conne Smythe Trophy with the Flames. Wierd that his jersey hasn't been retired yet.

Mark Howe is in next. There's only one more player.

Pat Burns not getting inducted is well, not a travesty, but it is highly disappointing.

That said, congrats to Nieuwy, Killer, Mark Howe, and Eddie 'The Eagle'.

Last year was a travesty. Like you said, just a disappointment this year.

Very pleased that Nieuwy and Dougie Gilmour got in, both key players on that '89 Stanley Cup team for the Flames.

The only thing I will say about Pat Burns getting into the HOF is that his fight last year and his death this year should not have anything to do with the voting.

My thing was just that if they basically already know he'll get in eventually, why delay it like that? Anyway, moving on. Good class coming up next year in eligibility. Gary Roberts! Yeahhhh! :D

Gilmour goes in as a Leaf. Nieuwy goes in as a ________?

That's tough...Star perhaps? Conn Smyth? NJD was at the end of his career, so I'd assume it wouldn't be them.

I agree with this, comeds, if the person is a borderline candidate for a Hall of Fame or some other award. However, in my opinion, this isn't the case for Pat Burns (he's a surefire member) and very few people would have raised a stink if Burns would have been inducted last year.

I don't think Bettman cares, quite honestly, but he could have gone to bat for Pat Burns a year ago (even behind the scenes) and pulled a few strings, but he's too concerned about a hockey team in the Arizona desert.
