I agree with this, comeds, if the person is a borderline candidate for a Hall of Fame or some other award. However, in my opinion, this isn't the case for Pat Burns (he's a surefire member) and very few people would have raised a stink if Burns would have been inducted last year.

I don't think Bettman cares, quite honestly, but he could have gone to bat for Pat Burns a year ago (even behind the scenes) and pulled a few strings, but he's too concerned about a hockey team in the Arizona desert.

I honestly do not know enough about him or other coaches in the HOF to judge for myself whether he is worthy or not, so thats why I commented that his passing should not influence the voting.

Even though thats the way I feel, and really I do not think the commissioner should get involved in that, I would have had no real issue if he would have been elected in.

Yeah, if he is a surefire bet to get in then I'd have less problem with a rush job than I would someone getting in because of their death.

Players just go into the Hall, this isn't MLB where they pick a cap...

Wow, Taylor Hall's already got a HOF named after him? That kid is special.

(Oilers better lock him down for life when his entry level deal ends)

/waiting for the oldtimers to tell me it was named after Glenn...

Great names but there is no doubt who goes first.

Sakic should be a unanimous no-brainer and Shanny will probably be there too. I guess if I can remain objective, Roenick probably deserves a nod but God, I hate the guy, always have.

Pat Burns

Pat Burns should have been let in last year. He has the numbers and was a great coach. I loved him in Boston. HOF should be ashamed that they did not get him in while he was alive.
