i know it gives us 12 now and TG says he's holding a spot for mair but i still don't follow that.

he didn't even make it past the first cut. he never played a single game. i'm just confused

Maybe he goes back down as soon as they can get mair to sign a deal that keeps them under cap or they make a trade and sign mair.

First, the Devils needed to have 20 healthy players on the payroll.

The Devils obviously wanted to recall a center, but JJ has a base salary of $900,000, whereas Henrique's is $558,333 with $287,500 in bonuses which don't count against the cap.

So if you take out Salvador and Salmela and sent down Taormina, the Devils would be over by $305,000 with JJ as opposed to under by $35,000 with Henrique.

Regarding Mair, the Devils can't sign him right now because they would be over the cap, and can't send a player like Taormina down because then they wouldn't have 20 players. I'm not totally sure about this part, but I think it's correct.

because taormina would be going down anyhow if we signed mair. Might as well have a full lineup as opposed to an extra D-man. If Mair is not signed by Friday, we still have 12 forwards.
