A few Marshalltown sports trivia:

1) Also, the State Wrestling program shows Marshalltown High School won the 1st state title (which wasn't actually the first one),

what Hall of Fame NCAA D-1 basketball coach was an assistant coach of that wrestling team?

2) The son of the founder of Marshalltown was the 1st Major League Baseball player to have 3,000 hits, who was it?

3) What MHS alumn broke the national record (I believe still stands) for career home runs (4 years)?

Name the three Iowa universities that have won Division I NCAA team title in wrestling.

This one is easy, Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa...funny, Iowa won 3 in a row right before Penn State won these last 3, time to break their hold and get 3 more for the Hawkeyes!

1. well Gable won 16, Iowa has 23 overall, Zalesky won 3 and I think Brands has won 3 so that is 22 overall so I am going with 1
2. 9 as I recall

Herky, spot on Matt Clement. Saw your post and knew it was right. Our school has his motivational poster up in the hallway.

The 4th college is not eligible to win it anymore, at least not in div 1. Name is the same.

The 4th is Cornell College. They won it in 1947 i believe. I am 100% certain that it is the Cornell near Cedar Rapids.

Going to go with the first ever college game? Stagg was there in the late 1800's as I recall so as amazing as it sounds I think that is it since Naismith invented the game in 1891.

It wasn't the first ever NCAA basketball game. But it is the first game that looks the way it is played around the world in all levels today.

When I wrestled at York, we went to Cornell's wrestling tournament right after New Years. Our captain qualified for NAIA Nationals at that tournament.
