This team is killing me. Dig a hole, climb out of the hole, fall back into the hole.

Disagree. Losing 99 helps the team’s future. Winning 81 just puts the team into limbo.

I see your point but it kind of depends on the context. If you lose 100 a couple years while doing a planned tear down and rebuild like the Astros did, it's definitely fine. But we were actually trying last year and lost 99. So this year we decided no rebuild but let's do better. And we did. But not enough to make the playoffs, because of key injuries and having no legit scary hitters in the lineup. Our #3 hitter has a very average hitting line. We have no leadoff hitter, no cleanup hitter, no power. We do not have a playoff lineup.

I never said I agreed with the contention strategy the FO took. I was always quite vocal about my tear down preferences. Contending with this lot is just kicking the can down the road.

Well, the results agree with you. I'm just saying, if they had lost 100 this year, after taking on Longo and Cutch and whatnot? No bueno. At least the team is watchable.

But yes perhaps they will finally decide to do it that way. Who knows? A teardown probably means trading everyone but Buster, and sucking for 3 years. Us Giants nerds would be ok with it, but the attendance would plummet and I don't know if the brass will ever do it. Sabean would certainly retire if so.

I don’t expect Sabean to be around much longer anyway, and I expect Bochy to retire after this year.

The end is near, folks. The end is near.

Us nerds want it to happen, and soon, so we can rebuild for the 2020s.

I was listening to this game on the radio and Miller made a point to mention the ball going off Crawford's leg to score the winning run. He talked about how the play was difficult for Crawford, in terms of making an out, but if he kept the ball in front of him, the bases are loaded with 2 outs instead of game over. I haven't gone back to see how the play was scored but Miller thought it should be scored an infield hit and then an error that allowed the runner to go from third to home.

Those of you who watched the game, how much is that winning run on Crawford?
