Personally I think the Kings did it better, they never dished out contracts to where they had to pare off like the Hawks did after 2012, but the point is the same. Plus they got it right after last year's Cup win. Build right, build once.

I will say this was a bit odd:

Among key contributors on the current roster, only Gaborik and Willie Mitchell are free agents this summer, so next year’s Kings should look an awful lot like this year’s edition.

And in the very next section:

Meanwhile, the Kings have guys like Mitchell (37) and Robyn Regehr (34), who were useful pieces on this year’s team but hardly key contributors.

Umm OK...so which one is it?

I read this article. There are few inconsistencies, but it is nice that the Kings are being seen in this way.
