what do you think about this idea?

personally I think egos would get in the way and some dudes would hate to be put in a position where they look like less when playing with their bros.

This is the way. Absolutely.

Private course near me has a great teaching unit for kids. They start on the greens on the inner-9 and don't start moving back until they can shoot even par. Putting to chipping to 50 yards to 100 yards to 150 yards. Teaches the game the right way with the focus on scoring around the greens.

Also reminds me of this ->

it kind of made me think that what if what you got on the hole before dictated where you teed off.

double bogey or worse, red tees
bogey, gold
par, white
birdie or better, blue

I'm carrying a 5.5 hcp right now and am pretty long off the tee but always try to play from around 6200ish yards. That's where I don't have to hit driver off every tee, can have fun, and typically shoot around 80ish. If I push to the tips at 7200 yards I can barely get under 85 with trouble off the tee. And shorter like 5500 yards and I'm taking the entire course out of play and driving most par 4s.

I never look at course length, to be honest, I just play from the whites.

This does not make for a faster pace of play when 1 or more players in your foursome hit from different tees every hole. Slows things down considerably in my opinion.

not suggesting you try... s'a personal thing... I believe that pushing limits helps to improve my game... I believe that because, well, because it works.

I don't disagree

but adding 25 yds to a hole isn't the challenge I need

it never started out as "gender" tees, it was based on ability.

I read somewhere you should play the tees based on how far you hit a 7 iron. if you hit it 120, you should play tees that are ~ 6100 yds, the further you hit it the farther you move back.

My problem is i can hit my 7 further than that, but my drives aren't very long. I'm not reaching a 500 yd hole in 2.

USGA has put out guidance on tees based on length (below) but I ascribe to the move back when you can break 80 from a tee set.

Break 80 from the reds? Move to the golds.
Break 80 from the golds? Move to the whites.
Break 80 from the whites? Move to the blues.
Break 80 from the blues? Move to the tips.

A course near me starts kids on the green and moves back in 50 yard increments. You don't move back until you shoot par from that distance. Focus on the short game and build off of that.

80?! get the fuck out of here with that number.

I'd set it at 90

but I don't think removing distance will help some people.
