Unlikely. We'd have to ship some cash with him, and wound't get much in return.

I'm with gp on this, plus who would take his spot in the rotation? If he's doing well next year maybe they deal him at the deadline (if the team is not doing so well).

I think if we absorbed half his contract, the Ms would give us Walker and Robinson. Maybe we wouldn't even have to take half.

Surkamp or Walker could take the 5th spot. Robinson would be the 5th OF and we'd shed payroll to go after a big FA. I think it's gonna happen.

I doubt we'll see Surkamp in the majors in 2013.

Well, if we don't trade Timmy you're certainly right. But if we did trade Timmy, who would you start?

Surkamp had tommy john on July 25th, I doubt he'll be taking anyone's rotation spot until the spring of 2014, at best. He was a fringy pitcher to begin with. I don't follow the minor leagues very closely, nor the fungible fifth starter FA market, but isn't Chris Heston the next internal option?

Is Wellemeyer available?

LOL. Seriously though, I'd take a flyer on Kevin Correia. If he can stay away from the two-seamer backing up over the plate he can be a pretty good pitcher.

Well, I hope that nobody is going to argue that Wilson deserves a $6M contract (less than $6M means that the Giants will have to release him).

My second-favorite gif from last night:

Oh man that is awesome.

As I posted before BuckCarver's words, right before that pitch "Matt Cain, throwing the ball exactly where he wants to put it"

Yes, yes he did.

Stratton, then Crick I think.

$6.4MM to be exact. I don't think any team will offer him that much. I predict a $4MM contract with a vesting option for 2014 based on IP.

Stratton has a super-outside possibility to see action in '13, but I would be shocked. No chance for Crick.

Heston and Kickham are the next ones in line.

The good news is that there's a chance that some of {Surkamp, Stratton, Crick, Heston and Kickham} will be ready to come up in 2014, when 3 of our current starting pitchers' contracts expire (Zito, Timmy, Vogelsong).

I'd like to see the Giants sign Zito to a new contract, actually (very team friendly). Replace the last year of current contract with a new 2-year contract :
2013 : $15M, 2014: $15M.

But I doubt he'd do that.
