What about game 5 in the 2012 NLDS? Sure, it was not a "game 7", but it was an all-or-nothing game. That's the same thing.

I am a nervous wreck. Not because of the triviality of number 7, but because this is it. Both teams are in do-or-die. This is what sports fans live for.

Whether it's Game 5 or 7, I can't remember a postseason winner-take-all game in San Francisco except for Game 7 of the 1962 World Series. It's great that we are adding to the ballpark's history tonight. One of top venues in all of sports, for sure.

I've gotta say I am shocked that Carpenter is not in there. I think Matheny has made his first mistake of the day with that.

I kinda agree.

Carpenter has been an absolute thorn in the side of the Giants this series. Meanwhile, Collision-gate has gotten in the head of Holiday and he has not played well when he has been in there.

I think it takes a manager with some respect-equity to be able to make those kinds of lineup calls. Matheny will be good, I think, but he is still a rookie.

That said, I am NOT sure that Carp over Holiday would be the right call. It is not as clear-cut as Uribe over Panda...

I wouldn't be surprised for Holliday to be a late scratch (just before lineups are exchanged), might have the potential to mess with Cain a little bit.
