I had to go look them all up :

1997, Dusty loses in the NLDS (Giants)
2000, Dusty loses in the NLDS (Giants)
2002, Dusty loses in the WS (Giants)
2003, Dusty loses in the NLCS (Cubs)
2010, Dusty loses in the NLDS (Reds)
2012, Dusty loses in the NLDS (Reds)

He's led some damn talented teams over the past 16 years, and no ring to show for it.

The 90s Braves lost a ton in the playoffs too, was Bobby Cox a bad manager? I agree Dusty is not special, definitely not a good strategist, but the playoffs are a luckfest and he's been super unlucky.

I feared that the Reds were bound to break through because of that. Was anyone warming up?

I was SURE Bruce would get a hit, how many times do you see a guy foul off a ton of pitches, wear out the pitcher, and then get one? And a lefty...man that was sick.

Tough call there. Cards are a hot team with a scary offense. I think we actually match up with the Nats better. Their lineup is a lot more pitchable.

But their pitchers are a lot more good at pitching...

Not down at all and I have no problem with teammates who don't 'love' each other - just really looked obvious as I watched it but I didn't tape it and wanted to see if anyone else noticed - Buster is one serious dude!

That's true, he's all business. That's a good team leader to have

I saw it, and I don't think he looked away on purpose. Too much stimuli around him. Timmy seemed to take it in stride, too. Obviously, they aren't best buds, but that failed fist bump doesn't devolve them past tolerated acquaintances.

Might be... And definitely not trying to get into this too much cuz I don't really give a crap... But Posey sure did give Affeldt the stank eye during the celebration when we won the pennant. Affeldt was being annoying punching him in the kidney, but in the least I think Buster is a pretty dry dude.

Posey just has that intangible something, he was born to play this game (like a Derek Jeter type). He'll have a great career and I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up a good ML manager too

Yep and I think Pence is complimenting him perfectly a bit of rah rah, to go with Posey's example, work ethic and high expectation.

Agreed. Kind of filling in for Wilson with the goofy knucklehead upbeat vibe (although Beard is still of course with the team)

It was also plain to see that to Posey this win was a means to end (WS) and that his job is far from over.

He actually reminded me of a father letting his kids blow off some steam before getting them back on track for the task at hand.

Speaking of Posey, just realize this...

2010 - he comes up about 1/4 in, wins ROY, and the team wins the first WS in 56 years.

2011 - he gets hurt on 5/25 and the team does not make the playoffs.

2012 - he returns from ince$t (getting fucked by a cousin) to likely win NL MVP and hits a Grand Slam in game 5 of the NLDS.

Dude has approx 2.0 years of MLB playing time and already has a near HOF resume.

LOL. Nice find. I remember this hag from Game Three.

Now look where that broomstick ended up.
