Players will be able to switch from playing on their TV screen to playing on the controller's 6.2-inch touch screen, draw on the controller using a stylus, play board games on the controller, browse the web, and video chat with friends. When used with the TV screen while playing a game, the controller screen will show information or views that are not shown on the TV (i.e. maps, inventory, etc.) The controller will also display unique in-game viewpoints as it's moved around by the player.

Sony is announcing today an ***8220;Only On PlayStation Network***8221; campaign aimed at drawing attention to its slate of exclusive new online-distributed games for the PlayStation 3 and Sony***8217;s portable game platforms.

Under the promotional campaign, the PlayStation Network***8216;s 77-million-plus users will be able to get exclusive new downloadable games every Tuesday in October. Sony will offer its PlayStation Plus subscribers a 20 percent discount during the launch week of each Only On PlayStation Network special game. Things really kicked into gear when Nintendo announced that the Wii U was scheduled to launch next year, in 2012. Gamers, enthusiast, tech sites, developers and publishers all started pitching in about the next phase of gaming and what gamers should and can expect in the new generation.

With announcements for upcoming games arriving in 2014, it***8217;s doubtful that these titles are for current gen systems. Heck, Avalanche Studios admitted their new IP in 2014 [via Edge] was for the next generation of consoles. That sort of leaves most people to question: will the Xbox 720 and PS4 arrive in 2013 or 2014?

Sony shocked us all yesterday when they announced that the PS3 would now be backwards compatible. However, the PS2 games will not be in a physical format, but via PSN. This now leads us into something very interesting wondering if the PS4 and Xbox 720 should support backward compatibility, and if it should be disc or digital?
