The defensive scheme is horrible, but any other more then likely won't work much better.

The coaching is bad, because he is stubborn.
Even though something else might not work, you still need to try it, because what you are doing, and have been doing is totally not working and will never work with this group.

Thankfully, some late night games coming for the Heat - this will surely keep the kids off the message boards at least for a while since they should be in bed long before game time.

And again, this whole idea that Spo lost the team - Regardless of record, 34 games into an 82-game season is not a team to call yourself a reasonable person if you say such a thing. But, again, he hasnt lost the team - diva has lost the team with his selfish play on the court and sitting out games for absolutely no reason when we have guys like McRob and Birdman and others who have played through injuries to do every thing in their power not to leave the team short-handed as they would often be when diva decides to SIT OUT.

Spo may have lost the team, but Diva is the bad apple that is at fault for it. I would be more frustrated with these losses if other guys on the team were the ones being the high scores of the games - because at least other guys on the team actually give it every thing they have despite circumstances i.e. Luol Deng - for as inconsistent he is, what is consistent is his effort - Diva stopped being consistent at that years ago

I see Wade has become the pigeon's new scapegoat similar to Battier.

Not at all the scapegoat. He is just guilty as charged

If we can go 2-3 on this roadtrip I'll be absolutely stunned.

3 freaking days off before the Portland game. Let's see if Spo makes any adjustments

And if our guys make good use of the 3 days off to prepare for this road trip or just sit around eating shit. A good win as they prepare for a tough road trip.

Even after losing 4 in a row, this one win does a lot for the team - gets some movement in the standings - if they can stretch some wins, maybe not in a row, but at least play .500 ball, they can find themselves in the middle of the pack again.

FYI, Cavs lost again

Heat announce a season-high attendance of 20.181.

Per Ira Winderman - but anyone that watched knows it was half of that, at best

Shabazz Napier tonight in D-League for Sioux Falls: 34 min., 3-9 FG, 2-4 3s, 0-0 FTs, 7 rbs., 7 asts., 3 turnovers, 8 points in 108-89 win

Per Ira Winderman.

Shabazz still struggling with his shitting and ball security. Same problems all season long.

Is Miami Heat's next move to start Hassan Whiteside? - Sun Sentinel
Do you think Hassan Whiteside has the potential to start? He plays well with Chris Bosh. Or is it too much too soon? -- Bryan, Davie.

Great move to add Whiteside to the mix, as for starting YES he should be starting and have Birdman backing him up off the bench, this guy brings interior presence, guards and forwards are afraid to take to ball to the hole when he is on the floor, that should also make Cole and Chalmers job...

A: "Potential"? Sure. But when you consider where Whiteside stood at the start of the season, awaiting a potential call-up from the Iowa Energy, I think a degree of perspective also is required. He is intriguing, but not quite polished enough to be a plug-and-play option in the starting five. While he has proven efficient in ducking in for passes and finishing, he still doesn't necessarily get the full respect of opposing defenses, which means there still are extra eyes on Bosh and Dwyane Wade. I still think there is a place for the Bosh-Shawne Williams combination when it comes to spacing the floor. And I still think Erik Spoelstra needs time to reformulate his defense to one that makes better use of almost always now having a shot blocker on the court. This is so new and so different from what the Heat have done in recent years, having a combination at center like Chris Andersen and Whiteside, that I think it has to be cautiously developed.

Q: Why was Shabazz Napier sent to the D-League? He should be playing. -- Evan, Miami.

A: Which is exactly why he was sent to Sioux Falls, to make sure he is playing. With Erik Spoelstra committed to Mario Chalmers as his starting point guard, it means the remaining minutes at point guard go to Norris Cole. Now, you can debate whether either of those two have earned such playing time, but the Heat have an option with Napier that they don't have with Chalmers or Cole, and that's time in the D-League. I do think the timing of Napier's next opportunity will come as much because of Chalmers and Cole as his own play. Through it all, the reality is that Napier likely has more of a long-term future with the Heat than either Chalmers or Cole, even if his time is not now.

Q: Would Ray Allen help the Heat? Allen would have a positive impact on the players. -- Jerry, Weston.

A: Sure. But he could have far more impact on a championship contender, if he chooses to return at all. I can't fathom Allen signing where playoffs aren't a guarantee and a championship isn't within reach. That likely is part of the factor of why we haven't seen him sign to this point and might not at all this season. If the Cavaliers were just a shooting guard away from being a top seed, I think you already would have seen him in Cleveland. And if the Clippers weren't in such a tenuous position that they might not last more than one round of the playoffs because of the competition in the West, I think a reunion with Doc Rivers might already have been sealed. For now, there is no reason for Allen to rush. He can sign as late as the final day of the regular season to be playoff-eligible, perhaps making him the ultimate closer.

Saw a stat on DontHateMiami facebook feed. Whiteside leads NBA in blocks per 48 minutes at 5.87. We may have ourselves something here.

Agreed. But always best to keep things in perspective. We have to remember its only been a small sample size to this point.

Whatever....Also, Napier needs to play because just maybe he can play better defense. 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio is better than Chalmers. Also, 50% from 3s is important. Come on now....the question going into this road trip is whether Spolestra and his coaches can adjust.

Whatever....Also, Napier needs to play because just maybe he can play better defense.

His defense has been an issue since pre-season, as has been ball security - He has to improve in those two areas a lot more in order to be worthy of a spot on an NBA roster, let alone regular rotation player in the NBA. As of now, if he was to be called up at any point in this road trip, he would probably be an end-of-the-bench guy unless there was multiple injuries that opend a spot for him.

The Heat play in the eastern conference , where - if you can string some wins here and there - you can be middle of the pack in the standings... They may not be championship contenders, but surely still have potential for the playoffs and to improve seeding.

Not saying he doesnt have potential - he does - we all know that, but now is not his time and the Heat are handling him the exact way they need to. He has shown that there is things for him to work on - That is what the D-League is for. And even if he was putting up better numbers in the D-League , it would be just a small sample size - and it is JUST the D-League. No direspect to them, but Napier is probably on more equal ground against those guys at this point in his career than he would be in the NBA.

His turnover ratio is with a small sample , as it is with his 3pt shooting thats why it is at 50% - it would probably fall into the average range with more PT at the NBA level.

the question going into this road trip is whether Spolestra and his coaches can adjust.

If that is the question going into the road trip, you can expect them to continue to struggle to find consistency because Spo and the coaches are not the problem.

Consider this: If they are the problem, just as they were blamed for the recent losses, and just about every loss this season - how come they werent given any credit for the win yesterday? That quesiton is slightly rhetorical because this fan base, especially this message board, is far too dumb and ignorant to give the guy credit when he has earned it as he has his whole career.

The real question is whether the players will continue to put in the work to work on their short-comings individually and as a team - CB has said it several times to the media after recent practices and said so post-game - That they have to realize the potential they have if they put in the work necessary to be successful.

This is up to the players. I have said many times before, this whole idea that Spo is a bad coach because he doesnt motivate his players is false - The motivation has to come from within first and foremost - if you dont have that, you cant expect anyone else to motivate you.

Either way, the players are saying all the right things - now they have to act upon it. I will use CB again as an example, a few games ago he said he would start to take it inside more - he has yet to do that consistently.

Coaches coach and players play. Its up to them

LOL. The Cavs and Heat have something else in common, we both lost to Philly. At least, they only lost to them on the road minus Lebron and Irving.
