The 2017 Demon Deacons were the last FBS opponent Presbyterian ever played. Before the end of the season, the Blue Hose announced a transition to non-scholarship football and a subsequent move to the Pioneer League. Non-scholarship programs do not typically schedule FBS teams (with one exception, when San Diego played San Diego State as a one-time deal due to the common location in San Diego), as a win over a non-scholarship team would not count towards the bowl eligibility of the FBS team. As such, FBS teams planning to play the Blue Hose in future seasons have canceled these games.
Incidentally, Wake Forest was also the very first FBS team Presbyterian played, back in 2010 just as the Blue Hose were about to complete their transition from D2 to FCS.
