Interesting. Collins has the talent, but he has blemishes.

From PFT:
One of Russell Wilson’s former Seahawks teammates may be joining him in Denver.

According to multiple reports, offensive tackle Brandon Shell is taking a free-agent visit with the Broncos.

Shell, who turned 30 in February, spent the last two seasons with Seattle. He started 10 games for the club in 2021 and 11 contests in 2020.

A 2016 fifth-round pick, Shell spent his first four seasons with the Jets. He appeared in 49 games for New York with 40 starts.

The Broncos are in need of a starting right tackle. If the visit goes well, Shell could be their guy.

Quick search is that he has been a consistently good, but not great RT. Sounds like he excels more in the pass blocking area than run blocking so opposite of Tom Compton.

The Bengals have waived RT Fred Johnson because they now have La’el Collins, Johnson is only 24, any chance we take a look at him?

Much rather Shell. Maybe a fall back option but rather keep Compton and draft a rookie in first two rounds. Also, understanding value may not be there with Johnson. Johnson was part of a pretty weak Bengals OL.... He isn't awful but Shell is much better and I don't think he is much better then Compton.

One thing seems clear on Defense for these Broncos - This Broncos defense is investing into attacking the LOS and the QB more than investing cornerbacks who can deflect passes.

Consider the front 7 - of these Broncos - The Broncos now have two edge rushers in Gregory and Chubb who can also play the DE position. This means the Broncos can run a 4-1-6 defense - with Browning as the middle LB choosing anywhere along the LOS to rush into the backfield at the snap. The pass rush being both Jones - Chubb - Gregory and Browing - and that is a lot of speed and reach.

Melvin Gordon fired his agents and now appears to be in the $2.5 million a year base salary range. If I was the Broncos I would get that deal done. Gordon is an upper echelon pass catcher for a RB.

I am starting to lose faith in a Melvin Gordon return. He is talking with the Ravens today.

A boon for Boone? I'd say - probably draft a guy too.

It could also be the Broncos have a side deal with Gordon -that they want to look at matching his top offer.

The Broncos wouldn't be without the opportunity to go to Wilson and ask for a salary cap extension or a simple salary cap maneuver - moving some of Wilson's guarantee money or a multi year salary cap credit by converting it to a roster bonus.

Some of the best value buys in the FA market - are the salary cap cut guys after 6/1 - save some money for that. The Broncos should be kings in that market as a contender.
