The surprise that Fowler is going back to the Cubs means the Orioles are still looking for outfield help.
Could be that the battle of the Birds is about to heat up in Baltimore and Toronto.

I did see that the Jays signed Domonic Brown to a minor deal. He's no superstar but he's an outfielder.

Brown's a tweener power wise, but isn't necessarily a worse hitter than Bruce. The Blue Jays may have moved on.

Fowler either needs a new agent or a mental evaluation. Turns down a $15.8M qualifying offer from the Cub's to eventually sign for nearly half that amount with the Cub's after turning down a better offer from the O's.

I read somewhere that Fowler wanted an opt-out clause for some reason, apparently since it's the sexy strategy the agents all employ now. But how and why he agreed to compete against himself in the market and wind up playing for discount wages is a baffler.

Could be, Fowler also awoke and smelled the Folger's, realizing the Cubbos are actual contenders and the Orioles are a .490 ball club.

Not that many players under 35 years old are signing contracts to play with a winner, at half salary in an OF as crowded as the Cubs, especially after turning down the teams first offer of twice what he ultimately signed for.. with the same team. Fowler and his agent were stupid and had to punt.
