Game Thread: Flyers @ Red Wings

Raffl and McGinn called up to replace Hartnell and lecavalier. Emery probably starting. The flyers suck IN Detroit. This one could be bad.

Yeah tough game, although the Flyers did play better against the Coyotes than the Red Wings did.

This team, as a unit, is bad. There are good players but this combination is not.

Berube has them jumping up and playing hard, but the parts don't seem to fit...
....and McGinn just scored a rebound hustle goal to make it 3-2

I'm not feeling too happy with the Flyers performance so far this season. They just flat out stink on ice.

I actually think the flyers played extremely well 5 on 5 tonight.. Read, bschenn, raffl, and Simmonds in particular.

But what's with all the fuckin penalties guys? Not gunna win many games when you take a penalty every couple minutes.

Emery also wasn't too strong tonight.

Emery was okay. He really was only to blame on the Bertuzzi goal.
Cooter, B Schenn, McGinn, Raffl, Read and Simmonds all looked good. G is showing signs of life.
Gussy did a good job using his skating and offensive skills to move the puck out of the defensive zone and to get the puck on net and create scoring chances.

IN a game like that you really need your goalie to make all the easy saves, that didn't happen, although emery did make some good ones (the game is worse with bryz in net). I liked the compete level and I thought mcginn and raffl were 2 of the better players. I know alot of you are saying how well simmonds played, but geez how many times is he going to miss the net from 10 feet out, or fumble a pass right on his stick when he's all alone? Too many penalties once again, it's hard to keep a rhythm or score goals when you're shorthanded so often. Luke Schenn still giving the puck away right up the middle of ice...he has his moments, but he has to stop the turnovers.

One game note the replacements factored in on both goals! Berube needs to continue benching players who take dumb penalties and it will stop. Keep doing it then eventually trade them! That's how you build a culture...
