We definitely need to sweep the A's here to make up for getting swept by the Dodgers. To be honest heading into the final stretch I do like the fact that the Mariners hopes of getting into the playoffs are in their own hands. At a minimum it will be between us and Texas for that final wildcard spot.

Well in my scheme of projections ... in order for that scenario to develop as you outlined, they need to peel off 3 straight wins.
The next 2 w/ OAK and the 1st game w/ TEX on Fri.

That sets the table for the mad dash to post season as near as even with HOU and TX as they can expect to get with 9 games to play ( starting with the Sat game in TX - AFTER 3 straight wins: Tues Wed and Fri )

Can they pull it off ? mathematically yes, will they ? - I sure as hell hope so.
Realistic chances to win the AL West - my hunch guess ( 15% without looking online ) chance to sneak in with #2 or #3 WC 50-50 chance.

I’m not sure this has ever happened where 4 teams and duking it out for 3 spots this late in the season. And basically all of them are struggling. They got the tie breaker over the Jays so hopefully they struggle
