For a guy with as much speed as he has, he can really swing the bat. And for the amount of time he's spent in center field, he doesn't look all that bad. He has also shown some real patience at the plate; seeing a lot of pitches and laying off balls off the plate. Hopefully when J-Stroll is done chasing records, Hernandez can take over short and the lead off-spot that has held all too often over the past three years.

Aw, and look at that beautiful bunt down the first base line with a lefty falling off to the right side of the mound.

very much so. i was going to make a thread earlier asking if he makes revere expendable. he's 2 years younger, a switch-hitter, has more talent, is the better hitter and looks very good in center so far despite a limited amount of time.

i think we can finally say, as long as he is playing, we've found a true leadoff hitter for years to come.

Love this kid, his plate discipline at his age is rare but a great trait to have. I'm yet to see the consistent pop-up at the top of the lineup that we are used to seeing. Considering Ruin Tomorrow Jr's hatred towards Ruf he will prob replace Ruf in the outfield while Ruf rots away in the minors and Howard racks up the K's and collected his disgusting check that he does not deserve!

I don't want to get too caught up in a small sample size... but he has looked really good thus far. What's surprised me so far is that he has 0 SB. He needs to utilize his speed a little better. I like Revere. I know it's a long shot, but I would much rather see J-Roll go. Are there any teams (with preferably retarded GM's) that need a shortstop, and would buy the "added leadership, proven veteran, former MVP, good defensive shortstop" bullshit? Johnny Peralta is due to be a free agent. With the PED suspension, maybe the Tigers would be less inclined to bring him back. Maybe there is a slight, slight chance Ruben can trade Rollins to them. I highly, highly doubt it, but I guess a man can dream.

He's looked good in center so far, but I don't think he has played much shortstop even in the minors.

I remember hearing 46 games at short. He only had 20 some in center field, so it looks like he can learn a position quickly. He'll be blocked by Utley the next couple of years, so if he continues to play well, his only shot at starting is in center or at shortstop if Rollins could be moved.

yeah, but shortstop is a tougher position. Plus I think you might be right about the chances of trading Rollins in the off season- you're dreaming . His best chance of playing is probably if they trade Revere or if he makes the team as a fourth outfielder and Revere is injured. Or if Utley is injured (but that would just benefit him and not the Phillies because they'd lose Utley, whose also a good hitter).

How many players are you going to fucking jinx this year! Steve Susdorf's mom is still mad at you ......

Haha, Susdorf just makes me laugh for some reason. A life-long minor-leaguer who gets to play in only like 3 games in the majors and then drops a fucking can of corn... I just had to laugh. Like you're feeling good that he made his debut and got a hit but then he drops a fly ball that I could have caught.

Cesar is so good offensively and defensively, and with speed, that the Phils should dump both MM and JMJ for good.

So, your saying Cesar is a bench player?

So, you're saying that "your" is a contraction of the two words "you" and "are"?

So, your saying Cesar is a bench player?

It will be hard for Hernandez to get into the regular lineup with everyone healthy but we would have a better team effort with Hernandez on the bench and subbing at much as possible since he's so versatile. Since Ryne seems adept at moving players around it would work. I hate the thought of watching MM and JMJ coming off the bench for another year. Plus if someone shows up lame, Cesar, at .314, is the man. I think he's for real, slapping the ball around like Revere.
