I would have liked to see Bernier and Tootoo sit, Ruutu move to the 4th line with Gio & Zubrus and JJ center a 3rd line with Ryder & Brunner.

Why is JJ, the king of the penalty kill, sitting?

Gionta is 4th from last in faceoff% for guys taking over 100 faceoffs at 37.5%. The only non-rookie worse than him is Torrey Mitchell.

Elias is last out of the 83 players who have taken 250 or more faceoffs at 42.6%. He has the 12th worst faceoff% of guys taking over 100 faceoffs. The only non-rookies worse than him are Tyler Ennis, Stephen Gionta, and Torrey Mitchell.



I think it is time the Devils got new centers.
(BTW: Cammalleri is at 54.4% over 45 and Josefson is 52.4% over 84)

Swedish Hammer was a beast on the 5 on 3 PK. If he gets healthy scratched in the near future I'm going to blow a gasket. Glad to have The Truth back in the lineup, he was also a solid penalty killer (maybe that's why JJ was scratched?)

I wonder if Pete will finally get fired soon. Lou brought in a lot of forwards for him and the team has been almost as bad if not worse than last year offensively.

Its all on Pete if he still can't get the players to execute his system after year 4 attempting it.

That's what I mean about Pete's system. If he didn't want old and slow he'd banish Bernier and sit Zubrus/Ruutu. He wouldn't have even traded for Ruutu in the first place.

Well the good, they killed off all 5 penalties and haven't allowed a PP goal in their past 3 games (coincidentally Salvador has been absent from all 3).

The bad, this team is still brutal at clearing the zone. This seems to be a characteristic of the Pete Deboer era Devils. Even the year we went to the cup our in zone play was sloppy. This is directly leading to goals this year.

Not getting any sustained 5 on 5 pressure is a huge problem. We don't have the burners to play dump and chase/aggressive forechecking. Gameplan adjustments need to be made to accommodate the personnel.

True, PK was pretty good for this game, like you said they couldn't clear pucks. Also gave up some big rebounds, IDK if that's on Schneider, the defense, or both. Just seemed that Schneider would give up big rebounds and there was no one on the Devils to stop Jet players from cleaning up.

other then the 3rd period can't really comment on much else because this team is god horrible boring and there is way too much other things i can watch on tv

DeBoer's style involves an aggressive forecheck. This team is too slow and has some old players that are not capable of playing that style at all.
Lou is the one responsible for who is on this team. Wouldn't it make sense to add guys that can fit that style and dump the ones that cannot? I am excluding Camm.

I watched Winnipeg skate into the offensive zone with speed and size. Then other way? not so much.

If there is a coach that can make winners out of a team that is slow and old, a team that has no capable backup goalie, so be it. I guess fire Pete, even though I don't think its all his fault.

I think the clearing of the zone is mostly due to either rookies on defense, or vets who have regressed. This team has nobody in his prime.
