Isn't Colquitt a FA at the end of the year? I'd say either way he is going to be gone after this year with all the paycut rejections. Why not just move on now with a young punter we spent a pick on and who has looked darn near as good as Colquitt in PS.

Well from what I understand it wasn't exactly a pay cut but they were more wanting to re-do his contract where his cap hit this year would be less but they would make it a 3-year deal. So yes he loses money but he also then would have some job security for the next few years.

From what I understand the Browns were trying to work out a trade with the Broncos for Colquitt but couldn't agree on the terms.

Yeah it was going to be a weird trade from what I understood where the Browns were trading their punter to the Panthers and then traded for ours. Not sure how that was going to work.

But Paul Kruger has never been cut before. This is his first time being cut. He was signed as an UFA by Cleveland from Baltimore.

Well good point. I always wonder what draft picks think when they get drafted by the Browns. Is it joy since they were picked and are now an NFL player or dang it this is a terrible team and my career is going down the drain before I even play a single down?

I remember when the Bills drafted Stephon Gilmore. I don't think I have ever seen a player so sad for being a top 10 pick. It was priceless. I think maybe the upper picks would rather dodge a teams like the Browns, Jaguars, Bills etc (not all, but some) after the top elite prospects though I think they'd be happy to play in Alaska if it meant being in the NFL. I think it depends too how much time the team spends with you in showing interest. I think the Bills just kinda came out of leftfield for Gilmore.

Not that Denver's offense didn't give him plenty of opportunities last year but if you really like being on the field and getting your reps, Brown's would be ideal !
