Glad to See Andy Reid get his ring.
Finally broke through. The drought is over. Lot of people waited a long time. Some waited a lifetime.
I don't think anyone is more deserving. Andy Reid is a class act. The Chief are a class organization. The 1st SB I can remember watching was Chiefs/Vikings a couple of years ago.
Lol couple of years ago, he says
So do I, I remember wanting the Vikings to win that game. I think I was 8.yeah, I remember seeing it, too...when it actually happened...
I think its really cool that the narrative thats being taken away from the Super Bowl is that Andy Reid massively outcoached someone. He had a lot of really good plays dialed up and even with players making mistakes they still had enough to win the Super Bowl.
I'm really excited about what Andy Reid, Bieniemy, Spagnuolo, and Toub can do moving forward. Chiefs won the Super Bowl and kept all of their coordinators intact. Id imagine that doesn't happen too often.
The biggest issue I've noticed in the Free Agency era is that defense wins championships and its really, really difficult to even remotely keep those same 11 guys from season to season. Its why you've seen the teams that repeat Super Bowls often come back with vastly different types of teams (Denver and New England both come to mind). Now comes the really tough part.
From the lists I've seen, the Chiefs have 22 players who are entering free agency. The highest paid among all of them is Terrell Suggs at $8M. Every other player is under $5M. After being part of a Super Bowl winner, those guys will all be looking for a goose in the pay stub. If every player's salary was upped 25% that would be cap hell. Best of luck trying to keep the team together.
I think this is where Andy has done an excellent job, but he's never had to deal with the championship mindset. Or the Championship ego. This is heart attack territory.
