Logan Paulsen agrees closer to you post. Wink Martindale is 2nd in the NFL in sending pressure. Paulsen thinks he may come with more 4 more pressures but drop guys from odd spots to in an effort to cconfuse Sam.
Hopefully the Oline holds up and we can connect on a couple of long balls with Tmac and Jahan.

Howell will be fine as he gets more experience. The o/line needs to help the young qb out and not the other way around ,

The OL is 100% why the sack total is so high. Even if we go with PFF 38%, the OL has given up 20 sacks.

Those 20 sacks would still be among the five worst teams in the NFL, and that doesn’t include sacks caused by other teams QBs.

not according to Rowdys post

So, you are denying the fact that Howells holds the ball for too long and walks into sacks? Its all on the oline? Rowdy had a post with the numbers.

Is it? How does it compare to others?

does not factor in Howell holds the ball too long and he walks into sacks. The high sack total number is not entirely on the oline. Of course, the oline needs to play better.

rowdys post

PFF rank on the Oline is 8th and next gen stats is 13th.

Dont disagree. But my question is how does Howell compare to other first year QBs in holding the ball too long? Is he really that much worse than his peers? And is it reasonable to expect that this number improves with experience? These are the questions we need to be asking to gain insight into Sam’s ability to overcome this weakness.
let me ask you this. If Brock Purdy were behind this Oline and Sam was in SF, would we be talking about Brock’s inability to avoid sacks?

Short answer is no , we wouldn’t and Howell doesn’t “ walk into sacks “ anymore then his peers do or have done .
