Clude Giroux and Faceoffs

Flyers annihilated us in the dot tonight clearly so I thought I'd look at the faceoff stats.

Giroux took a ludicrous 32 of 58 faceoffs tonight. 55% of all draws for Philly.

He also went 22-10 for a 68.8% winning percentage which is ridiculous.

Zajac was the only positive Devil in the dot 11-9 for 55%.

The rest of the Devils went 9-29.

That also means Giroux won more faceoffs than all Devils combined.

Always nice to win in Philly..little controversial at the end but I think the right call was made. Quick whistle I thought but the game shouldn't just be about that. It was an earned 2 points.

Marty played very well after letter in the soft one. Glad he didnt fall apart after that.

And just a side note...Philly with a very rough stretch coming up too. Back to back with Pittsburgh , games against Chicago , LA and 2 each with St Louis and Boston..if they are able to get into the playoffs after this last stretch then they deserve it.

Were playing good at the right time though. Hopefully no letdown in Florida.

Big 2 pts tonight... 12 games left IIRC... I honestly feel we need to go something crazy like 11-1 down this stretch... its a real tight race from 6-8 seeds IMO.

Losing all those games to CBJ really fucked us.

It kills me every time I look at the standings and think that we'd be in a pretty comfortable spot if we hadn't started the year 0 for 7 or just won half our shootouts.

Why, Brodeur made the save, and Hartnell crashing the net caused the puck to go in by hitting Brodeur. If Hartnell had stopped does that puck go in? Now I'm not saying he did it on purpose, but Salvador certainly didn't push him in either, so the ginger knew what he was doing. Frankly if the situation was reversed and one of our guys crashed into Mason, you'd be fuming if they counted the goal.

Refs made the right call. It wasn't enough to give a penalty and its obvious Hartnell didn't mean to run into Marty but it was enough to wave off the goal. It happens.

I bet you think that Ruutu "head shot" penalty was the right call though. And how bout the refs waiting for the replay to he showed on the overhead screen before they reversed the high stick call against Salvador.

And let's not even mention the non call when Carter was slammed into the boards. Guess drawing blood wasn't enough for a call on that.

At first look at may seemed that goal has to be allowed, but after slow motion review it was obvious that Hartnel's skates pushed/ran into Marty's pads and puck got loose and went into the net. It would be arguable if he did it with the stick. Also, Toronto's review proved that ref made right decision.

That Ruutu call was actually pretty close IMO. I wasn't that upset with it. I think that he clearly made contact with the opposing players head at the same time that his forearm impacted his chest, and I believe that rule is that the head can't be the principal point of contact. In this case, it wasn't just the head, but I'd rather them call these cautiously than the opposite.

this team hasn't won more then 3 in a row this year. you guys are asking for a lot for sure buuuuuuuuut looking at this schedule they do have some cupcakes. they get the panthers twice even with roberto that should be 2 wins. they get the islanders once that should be a win. they also get 5 games at home i think?
