Interesting, but as of late he hasn't really done anything noteworthy.

Doubt he'll get anywhere close to his days in New York, but I wonder what this means in the grand scheme of things for the starting rotation.

The AAA team has to have 25 guys on the roster too. If you have a has been getting pounded there, it was worth a try, but if you have a 20 year old getting pounded there, he wasn't ready, your scouting sucks and so does your farm. Fewer downer downstream impacts if the has been gets cooked. If your number 3 SP gets injured, everyone steps up a spot, and the #5 gets replaced by a fill-in. If your AAA ace is ready, that's an option, but if he isn't, some people hold faith in a guy that has been there before, and has his back to the last chance wall...let no one shot you, either scenario is usually forced by injury, misfortunate disaster or other necessity.

I doubt our season will be decided by Wang.
