eh, just didn't think we needed him quite honestly. but we'll see...

When Kevin Hogan or Aaron Murray is your backup......that's not a good sign. Both are 3rd stringers at this point imo.

Aaron imo ain't that bad. at 6'1" might be a tad short, but him and Chris Conley both came from Georgia and the 2 of 'em did well in college...

I think the guy needs more reps, but that's just my opinion...

I hear you and you know me......despite you guys being a huge rival I never troll.....especially on team boards. :pound:

Smith is 32 and getting up there in age. If he sustained an injury that kept him out 3-5 games.....you don't want to leave the starting job in Murray's or Hogan's hands. It could cost them a chance at the AFC West title, every game counts. And I think it's going to be a 3-way fight between Denver, Oakland, and KC.

I like Murray once he gets some experience.....think he'll be a capable starter in 3-4 years. Hogan has career backup written all over him imo.

Totally forgot about Tyler Bray.....he strikes me as a fringe NFL player. More of a practice squad type.

I'm a little surprised he chose KC over Dallas. With Romo being banged up so often.....he'd have a better chance to play with the 'Boys.

Weird contract design. I understand why they did it just seems crazy to offer such crazy escalators to the deal for a guy that most like you could easily get signed for a say 2-year/$4 million type deal.

Yeah, this is a pretty clear indictment of what the Chiefs have seen out of Bray and Murray up to this point. Hogan was a warning shot, but clearly they went farther than that even.

Andy Reid wanted Foles initially as I recall, when Chip's asking price got looney he went to the other QB he has wanted in the past in Smith. Foles was Reid's QBotF at the end of his Philly tenure and Reid may want to see if he can develop him. Dallas is kind of alien compared to Reid's staff which has some familiar faces. Also knows a lot of the system already I'd imagine.

This 2nd year option is kind of puzzling though. There's always the nuclear option if they really truly believe Foles is a viable starter (please no, would prefer not to copy Denver and St Louis) and want to make room for Poe and/or Berry by moving Smith. Seems very unlikely from what I saw of Foles in STL, but we're going to find out pretty soon. Foles should pretty easily beat the other 3 for the backup job.
