I was listening to Cooley talk about the game yesterday on my way home and they were talking about Griffin and what he can and can't do. They were comparing the current Griffin versus the 2012 version and Czabe asked about check downs in 2012. Cooley said his check down in year one was to run.
It is/was my opinion that option QBs don't make good NFL QBs because they don't learn the skills needed in the NFL to play the position. Clearly the Shanahans saw this and because they saw it Kyle installed the read option portion of the offense. So much so that they said the hell with a conventional check down and instead if you can't find what you are looking for then run. It speaks to the things that are missing in his game, the question is can he learn them and how long does management give him to learn.
