Actually you’re only about halfway there. It’s the officials calling those covering receivers. The lack of holding calls and the minimal amount of physical contact required to draw a PI flag in the big 12 is absolutely killing the perception of this conference. Its fucking pathetic really and they do it to keep the okie lights and Texas techs relevant imo.

With what Oklahoma has done with transfers the last 2 years, and with what he's already done himself, I think you gotta put Jalen Hurts on at least the fringe of those 2.

He deserves higher than tier 5 but no one is really sold on him. Mayfield was badass for 3 years and in College Murray had the tools to succeed. Hurts doesn't really fit what Rielly wants to do but is a stopgap until Rattler gets used to the speed of the game. I'd have him tier 3 here but with a lot of experience and instruction from a qb whisperer he should probably be tier 2.

Mayfield yeah but he was a walk on back in the day. Murray was a legit 5* top qb in his class type so it was people like me with more wishful thinking than honest conversation.

Hurts is somewhere in between. He was a legit recruit back in the day and had a natty under his belt. Talentwise he is Blake Bell but you have a genius in his ear. I think it works for you guys but you take a step back at the position. Considering how you went back to back at the Heisman it happens

Just look at career stats. Ehlinger has played in an easier defensive league and lags behind in a lot of categories.

Let's just take the 2 years Hurts started vs Ehlinger.

Hurts rushing 1,809 yards 21 TD's
Hurts Total Offensive production 6,670 yards 61 TD's

Ehlinger in his 2 years as a starter

Ehlinger passing 5,207 yards 36 TD's 12 INTs
Ehlinger rushing 863 yards 18 TD's
Ehlinger Total Offenisve production 6,070 yards 54 TD's

Stick Jalen in the Big 12 those 2 seasons and that margin expands further.
