Promotion/Relegation in College Football?

I have made this suggestion before regarding college football. I think it would be a great idea and would make football exciting for everyone.

What if the Pac-12 and Mountain West changed the way college conferences operate by borrowing an idea from European soccer leagues?

The Pac-2’s answer, some believe, should be to create a two-conference partnership with the Mountain West around a model similar to European soccer leagues, using a relegation and promotion system for football (and potentially other sports).

It is inevitable for college football. Unless Amazon or Apple take over. ESPN, Fox, Paramount nor Peacock have enough money to fund the tv contracts continually going up unless relegation happens.

It's an interesting concept but I think the scheduling is the biggest roadblock. Maybe it could work the way they're advocating here but for most of CFB it's not gonna fly.

I've said it 100x on here.

We need to split FBS.

(6) major conferences of 10 teams each with an 8 team playoff. 6 conference winners and 2 at-larges.

Corresponding 6 minor conferences of 10 teams each.

Feel free to stack as far down as you want into FCS.

Scheduling really wouldn’t be that hard of an issue to figure out. It’d be like 3 in conference games but it isn’t much different than a CCG and a bowl. It wouldn’t affect OOC games. Personally the relegation game to move down would be more entertaining than any non playoff bowl game.
