Didn't see a thread for this. New show on hulu, based off of Stephen Kings work. Premiered it a week ago and will add a new episode each Wednesday. It has me intrigued to see where it goes. When I say based off of Kings work, I don't know if this is something he did himself or not, but it references a lot of his work from what I can tell.

I will binge it when it is done. I am actually excited for it.

My understanding is that it is a fresh show simply based on the King-verse (all his books take place in the same multiverse). I don’t think it is a direct portrayal of any of his works.

The first episode was enough to keep me watching. A bit slow, but intriguing.

I finished the series earlier this week. Not bad. Not great. Not sure why black-Henry didn’t let white-Henry go back home. That didn’t really make sense, but ok...

I guess they will have S2 take place at the Lookout Hotel?

I'd give the show a 6/10 overall. Wasn't a fan of the "why" behind the mystery, especially with the ending basically contradicting it(that face white Henry makes to ). The ending involving Jackie Torrance however seems like an interesting set-up for season 2.

The “why” is just an extension of the King-verse. Castle Rock is a hotspot for thinnies (I don’t think the term was used in the show, but it is used elsewhere in Kings works). I would guess that daddy Deaver has/had a connection to the Tower, which either allowed him to hear the thinny or be able to activate it. The Henry’s going through the thinny made them conduits for the Crimson King (thus all the evil that happens in town when they were on the wrong side and not in the cage).

I don’t expect either to understand all of that, so maybe black-Henry didn’t remember enough about his cage-time to see that white-Henry was not evil, he was just in the wrong place.

As for ending to rest of group i didn't like the main character's final choice but thought show was pretty good. Some episodes much better than others.

The Sissy Spacek centered episode was great. Overall I liked the season and am glad its returning. Melanie Lynskey is really solid too.

I like it. Caplan is excellent as a crazy person.
