6 of next 9 vs the cards, this is our best chance to claim the division.

We do have that 11 game homestand in the middle of Sept to make a move, but we need to go at least 3-3 vs the cards to have a realistic shot at avoiding the wild card game.

hope the unknown is a lefty.
i would even be interested in j wilson starting that game as he wsa a starter, ha pitched multiple innings on occasion and the cards are terrible against lefties.

not sure if that means k johnson as our spot starter against the cards. hopefully, liriano and burnett deliver so that spot starter isnt under pressure to avoid a sweep or win the series.

This confirms previous speculation. Johnson owns a quality 2.39 ERA and 94/43 K/BB ratio over 135 2/3 innings this season in Triple-A,

really glad we are hitting and in a nice lead with liriano dealing.

but...... 2 out of 4 innings we have runner on third and less than 2 outs and cant get him in.
luckily, jones had a 2 out rbi after cutch and byrd whiff.

in the close fall games, chances arent many and to squander them so often like this team does is worrisome.

hope it doesnt bite us and this is the start of the new offensive powerhouse pirates.
we actually have a good lineup with 5 good bats on the bench + a lambo.
