Links aren't working for me.

If this is true though, that cap hit is much bigger than the old one. I do not know about this move even though Brown was captain of the first cup in this franchise's history. 8 years is a long time to have that big of a cap hit.

The cap is expected to go back up to 70+ million after this season.

The $5.75M cap hit isn't bad either considering he had an undervalued market contract the first time. He probably could've gotten 6-6.5 on the open market.

Yeah, he would have made a lot more.

The core if this team for the next 4-5 years is going to be Brown, Kopitar, Richads, Carter, Doughty, Voynov and Quick.

I was a bit surprised because I thought they were going to go another direction and give it to Richards. I think it is a friendly Cap Hit. Browny is a solid player but he is not my ideal captain. Overall, he is a really good team player. According to the article he negotiated his own contract.

"Brown's deal is reportedly worth just over US$5.75 per season. The right-winger negotiated his own deal, according to agent Scott Norton."

I understand that Richards is a great Playoff guy and does the little things, but he really hated being the Captain of the Flyers and did not perform well with all of that pressure. Also, he tends to disappear during the regular season for pretty significant stretches, so I think he is fine with his role.

I like Richards a lot, but I would vote that he not be Captain.

Richards signed a 10 or 12-year deal with the Flyers when it was the trendy thing. He was traded a day or two before his NTC kicked in. He's still under contract for 7 years.

Capgeek isn't showing Richards having a NTC or NMC

It was voided because of him being traded.

The Kings don't give out NTC or NMC. Carter had one as well but his was also waived when he came to LA.

* If the player is traded before a clause has kicked in, that clause is automatically ruled void.

I was thinking that Lubo's wasn't voided, but it was

While listening to the Power Play on NHL Radio I learned 2 things. First Brown negotiated the contract on his own without an agent.
Second he has a partial No Trade Clause.
I am not sure what a partial NTC is. Also he is one smart man for doing this own his own. Obviously he wanted to stay and the Kings wanted him in the fold.

I have understood partial no-trade clause in other instances to mean that you could only trade the player to a select list of teams that the player submits. In some cases, this can be as high as 15 teams that they can be traded too. You basically tell the player that you want to trade him, he them submits his list, and you work from there.

JJ did his own deal as well, without the NTC. Brown learned from that mistake.

8 years is too long. Four would have been tops IMO.

Good thing he can't boycott a trade.

They do. It just depends on who it is, and Dumbo gives it to vets in their 30s.

Handzus had one when he was here.

Visnovsky's never kicked in.

Just because a player is traded, that doesn't mean the NTC/NMC isn't valid. It's up to the acquiring team.
