why would Hurdle leave the righty in to face 2 LH's in the eight were the eventual winning run was scored, then bring in a lefty to face 2 RH's in the ninth??

Hurdle is honestly one of the worst managers in the league when it comes to actually managing a game. He's a great coach and motivator, probably even good with mechanics. But in game decision making? He's terrible. He's been a bit better this year, but he's lost the team games in the past. He's in love with small ball, the shift, ignoring how to appropriately use a bullpen, and leaving SP in too long.

Pretty sure the shift is coming from the GM's office. But yea the rest I agree.

I'm all about the shift, but otherwise, yeah, he makes a lot of bad choices.

I meant to put it in parenthesis that I like the shift, hahah. The shift is a great use of stats.

Also I can't watch the game and viewing the gamecast. Is McCutchen getting better pitches with Byrd behind him or is it just McCutchen being McCutchen?

Didn't seem like it, McCutchen is a top 5 hitter in the NL, and he is super hot, not sure why they would give him something better because Marlon Byrd is behind him.

Pix and element thanks. Thats what I figured but was curious if any pitcher/team would truly worry about Byrd.
Now with that said is Alvarez getting anything better now he has Byrd behind him tonight.

12-14 in the month of August, which includes a 5-2 start.

stl is terrible against lefties, so too bad locke is out.
