It's never happened in any era before or since.
I'm referring more to the idea that managers would leave their starters in after getting knocked around. Granted, I've not done the research to confirm my speculation, but it seems that managers pull their starters a lot faster now then they did in the 90s.

They do, but what Tatis did is just one of those statistical outliers that should be impossible but did happen once and never will again. Like DiMaggio's 56 game streak

I wonder if it wasn't the, "oh well he can't make it worse..." school of thought?

Or they simply decided to save the bully for the next night?
