You cannot give up a 3-0 lead in the 3rd period and lose the game 5-4. Atlanta was a desperate team but thats been the excuse for the past 2 weeks. Why arent we desperate? The #1 seed is slowly slipping away from this team. MY SOLUTION: sit Shelley. Theres no need for him in this lineup now. Im not 100% sure but I dont recall him even playing a shift in the 3rd period. Whats the point of dressing him if you cant roll 4 lines. Lavy should be comfortable to rely on his 4th line to create energy to get the other guys going, which isnt happening. SIT SHELLEY OR THESE LOSSES CONTINUE

Correction**. He had 3 shifts in the 3rd period averaging 46 secs. Didnt see the ice after 5:46 left in the 3rd. Played 7:57 total ice time tonight. Carcillo didnt see the ice either once the game became a 1 goal game. Powe replaced him on the Richards line. So whats the point of shortening the bench?

Since the All-Star break: 4-6-2, 3.01 GAA, .902 sv%.
Tonight's 3rd period + OT: 14.29 GAA, .750 sv%

Shelley was even on the night. How do manage to blame him?

Im not blaming Shelley for the loss. But the guy doesnt provide anything to this team when they are playing against playoff fighting teams. He needs to sit.

I'm pretty sure Steeger should shoulder a big part of this loss. It was his idiotic errant fucking pass that gave them an empty net for the 4th goal.

Do those numbers factor in how often we've hung him out to dry lately?

You need to get over your clear bias against certain players, dude.

So I guess we're just overlooking the first 2 that literally went right through him?

The Kane goal was on O'Donnell. The 5-hole goal was inexcusable, though. Even with those, he's still a better option than Boosh.

Versteegs pass was a killer. But he was trying to play behind the net. He was attempting to make the right play. The puck went off the end of his stick and didnt go the direction that he intended. Shit happens...

The numbers say otherwise.

It's not like he was trying to thread a needle or anything. It is unacceptable to make that gaffe -- playing a puck behind the net is probably the easiest play to make on the ice.

Yes I know. I was irate when I saw the result of the play. Im just saying he had good intentions lol. I wanted to point out that it wasnt like he was making a blind clear up the middle

The numbers say otherwise.

It's disingenuous to not use the entire season's numbers -- which are just about identical for both goalies -- and you know it. All things being equal, I'm more comfortable with Bob in there -- provided we ever remember how to play defense.

I'm sorry, Boucher is 5-2 since the All-Star break, and Bobrovsky is 4-5-2. The games where one was pulled were counted against both.

Being hot in November doesn't help when you're playing ice cold in February and March. Example: Tim Thomas has the best numbers in the league, but are you going to tell me he's the hottest goalie in the league looking at the season numbers when he's given up 3+ goals in 6 of his last 9 starts, 4+ in 4 of 9? No. Overall, Boucher and Bobrovsky are very comparable; you'll get no argument from me there. Except one's colder than absolute zero and the other is playing about average, but the cold one is still getting 60+% of the starts. When all things even, and we agree that they are, you go with the hot (read: less cold) hand, and the Flyers clearly aren't.

You can't get over a cold streak on the bench. With the lead we currently have, I think it's the right move to give him more starts down the stretch. I just don't want to see Boosh's "awful mode" come out in the playoffs.
