Because they had Chubb
right?

a more telling factor than whatever went down in the offseason, is that once they lost Chubb, they immediately brought Hunt back. What happened this week, tells me much more about what they think of their RB room than that what they did 6 months ago

I think they need help. But you are also saying they knowingly went with multiple players who were worse than hunt and johnson. So in this instance, why did they not re-sign him?

Money, pure and simple.

Granted I'm making assumptions here, obviously I have no inside knowledge as to negotiations, but..I have to ASSUME, that this offseason, Hunt wanted multiple years, and likely at 6-8M, maybe more, per year. 1 year at 4 today, helluva bargain comparatively.

And I don't think the effects of massive mistake of the Watson fully guaranteed deal, and the doubling down on that mistake by bringing in Cooper and his massive contact can possibly be overstated. Of course the Brownies were cutting corners anywhere they could, they just gave nearly %50 of the cap for the next 3-5 years to 2 players.

Oh same fer sure.
I certainly don't expect Hubt to be fully integrated less than a week from being signed, even with same coach, same OC, same system... there's still tweaks, checks, what have you that were implemented between then and now that he'll need to be up to speed on. But it'll be interesting regardless to see the snap %.

My feeling is that week 4 will be the real tell as to how this might shake out.

and the rationale for bringing in hunt previously when they had chubb?
Hard to know the facts around it.

But we do know:
-Hunt didn't look the same.
-Hunt turned down multiple offers.

So maybe it was a money issue and a lack of production issue BUT I have no clue why they didn't bring back D'Ernest but then they proceeded to trade for more of a speed back with Pierre Strong. Maybe they were going for a more speed combo and they thought it was time for Ford to finally get good playing time. I can't fault them but I did love D'Ernest. Strong is meh but he way more explosive than Johnson and Hunt.

I bid 96 of 100 (all that I had) in superflex and didn't get him
I bid 460 of 500 in my dynasty and was able to get him

This is with waivers hitting Thurs. morning after Hunt signing

CLE has a good D, a good OL, but just an average passing attack.
that's as good of a formula for fantasy RB success as any and now they also have big huge chunk of opportunity for a RB to seize

Kind weird you didn't get him for 96.

Hunt hasn't practiced with a team all preseason. (Neither has Fornette.)
My guess is the signing has more to do with familiarity with the system. And he was available. Do the Browns have any draft capital after the Watson contract ejaculatation to trade for someone of value?
If Hunt gets more than 50 yards this weekend I'll be shocked.
If he gets touches and doesn't pull a hammy I'll be shocked.

In one of my leagues, someone got cocky and said Hunt will rush for 1000 yards and 10 TD.

Told him that would be something since Hunt has only rushed for over 1000k once. And that was with Andy Reid. And he never rushed for 10 TD.

And now he's 28.

I would also be shocked, to both of those.

I wouldn't next week though

That would be tough.

Lets say he can get 4 ypc, he would need 250 carries over 15 games. That's over 16 rushes a game which seems unlikely.

It would be stupid to give up anymore valuable draft capital.

Would it be smart to trade for Taylor? No bc Chubb is on the books next year too then you are paying Taylor likely AT LEAST 2 years. Seems like a big salary at the RB position.

They will start getting their 1st's back in 2025
2024 - 2, 3, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7
2025 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 6, 7
2026 - all pick

Just for comparison, over the course of Chubb's career he averaged about 17.5 carries per game, give or take.
