Never understood why anyone would hate him anyway… He's a playmaker and has been … He reminds me big time of Hines Ward … There both not big guy's but there tough as they come and have good hands...

Never did hate on him. I loved the draft pick at the time and followed him off and on at Notre Dame. Was always a crazy ballhawk + after catch playmaker at ND. When he came onto the NFL scene a lot of folks criticized his route running ability (huge in the NFL obviously) and breakaway speed which = project. So I always knew it would take 2-3 years before Tate became relevant if ever... and sure enough.......

Not sure how many are hating on him, but one game does not make him a superstar either. He has had several not so good games this season and this is his first 100y receiving yards game.

I think he has his upside and right now they need him to be big, but is he one of the top 4 or 5 WR's in the league? I wouldn't say so. Is he going to be worth his contract needs in coming seasons? I don't know if I would say yes at this point.

I posted in this thread, but making it was stupid. Golden Tate hasn't put together an impressive season yet, and that's obviously still on the fence. Dunno why anyone would make a thread for people to eat crow in when there's no reason for anyone to eat crow yet.

To the TC, when he gets over 1,000 yards or 10TDs.... then you can make one.

Everyone has good GAMES... doesn't mean much if you don't do it consistently. Matt Flynn?

Tate is just a straight up play maker. He can be inconsistent in the receiving department, but he's been solid all year in the return game.

1,000 yards receiving on this team? not going to happen or i should say VERY unlikely for any WR even if Jerry Rice or Steve Largent were on this team it most likely would not happen. Tate like i have said before is the Best WR on this team even when Rice was Healthy. Don't hate one of the better players on our team because it only makes you look foolish in the long run. When Harvin comes back having Tate+Harvin+Baldwin= win win for us fans. Sprinkle in some Kearse and we are solid.

Something tells me that the people hating on Tate are some of the same people that Liked seeing JJ become our RB and MoMo being released/traded.

And I think that's one thing that is easy to overlook with him. It's easy to focus on the receiving numbers by themselves and they are inconsistent, but the punt return part of his game has to be recognized when you consider him as a player.

I never said i hated him he had a good game today but that doesnt make up for the lack of WR production this whole season (aside from the rams game) He is a good returner and this is the seahawks first 100 yard catch game from anyone of our WRs this season.

in other news who else is pleasently impressed with Jermaine Kearse? I am going on board to say that we should just get rid of sidney rice it seems that Kearse has done more in these last 2 games than sidney has all season

Huh? what are you saying here? That Largent wouldn't be skilled enough to get 1000 yards with the talent this team has at WR around him? Or that the team doesn't throw for enough yards to get Largent to 1000 this season?

If it's the latter, you're wrong. In the 8 seasons that Largent had 1000 yards for Seattle, the team's QBs threw for fewer yards per game than what this season's QBs are throwing (1978, 212.6; 1980, 218.4; 1983, 207.3; 1986, 214.0). And this was even before Wilson put 287 yards on Atlanta to bring this year's per game passing yards to 226.1.

Actually, after today's game, Tate is on pace to have 1000 yards receiving (1020). He's also on pace to have the 4th most PR yards in a season in history, which is even more impressive that he's had several big returns called back.

Golden Tate is a play maker. He may have games of 30 or 40 yds receiving but makes up for it in the punt return game. He creates opportunities for the Hawks to score on special teams and on offense, he turns crappy field position into a positive and makes critical catches when needed. It's not always receiving stats that makes a player great.

I've probably been the most vocal Tate hater on this board. From what I saw from him today, I was extremely impressed, not by his big plays, but from what he did after those plays. He didn't do his flashy showboat shit that he had done EVERY SINGLE big play prior to today. He looked like a reformed man out there and I absolutely loved every second of it. The only thing better than dominating, is dominating with class. That is exactly what Tate did today.

If you're going to argue that Golden Tate isn't deserving of any praise so far because of his receiving stats, you're not watching the games.

Bike Riding Shark - Really? Tate hasn't been impressive this season? Are you high? You don't know why anyone would make this thread? Could it possibly be in response to all the shit he took from you people after his wave while he scored a TD that turned out to be the game winner? Are you really comparing him to Matt Flynn, who doesn't have a job right now? No wonder you're banned.

I think Shark is comparing Tate to Megatron, but is failing to realize there are 32 #1 WR in the league and honestly, Tate was the #2 WR for this team in name only until Rice got hurt. Is Tate anywhere close to Calvin? No, absolutely not. Is he a bit immature? Yes. Will any receiver on this team ever come close to Calvin's numbers? Nope. That is not how this offense works since it is run first and utilizes 3 or 4 wideouts and two TEs as well as passes to RBs out of the backfield. The ball gets spread around alot. Who is number 2 in Detroit? Durham? a Seahawk castoff? Reggie Bush has more catches out of the backfield then that guy.

Tate is good and he will get better. He may do some immature thing again in the future, but that will slowly disappear as he gets older and young players start nipping at his heels.

Tate is exactly who he is... a play-maker and an average receiver in the NFL. Once again, the hate that he endured by some people is unjustified in a run first offense and part of him being a play-maker allowed us to see some of those ridiculous catches.

Needless to say I've been impressed with him. I don't know what guys like Sharkonabicycle expects out of him on this run first offense.

I am Talking about how Russell Wilson has no "favorite" Target. He spreads it around to much. I see our top Pass catchers at season end with like 55-65 catches. Not the 70+ that might be needed to reach 1,000. At 65 Rec they would need a 15.3 YPC average. Baldwin ( 34 15.4), Rice (IR) and Kearse ( 13 18.9 )are the only three over that average and i do not see them getting that many rec. That's what i am saying.

The Hawks game plan, style of play and the way they distribute the ball works against them.

I just don't think Golden Tate is consistent. I've seen plenty of him to know. All in all, Golden Tate is a bum.

He is on a run first team with à QB that knows how to spread the ball around. All you can expect from him is to make the most of his opportunities and he does just that.

If you want a team that cant run so they only throw the ball, go watch the Falcons.

And if you want à QB that cant spread it around, go watch Kap.

Look, as long as these guys catch the balls that are thrown to them and don't incur any penalties in the process, their season stats aren't particularly important to me. It would be nice to have a 1,000 yard rusher and a 1,000 yard receiver on the team, but with this offense being a run-first offense and with the way the ball is spread around when we do pass, having a 1,000 yard receiver is pretty unrealistic. Getting Harvin back is gonna make it that much harder for Tate or any of our receivers to reach 1,000 yards unless we suddenly flip-flop our offensive identity and become a pass-first team.
