I really don't like the way this third period is going. It's only a matter of time before the Ducks tie it up. And now they have a great chance going on the power play. We all know how super the Kings penalty killing has been lately.

Oh well another loser point. That's 22 shooters in a row who haven't been able to score in the shootout. So Anaheim wins the one-on-one competition. I'm learning to hate the shootout more and more. I've never liked it since it's inception but it's worse now that the Kings are so terrible at it. How can a team be so horrible at it?

PK is one of the worse in the league.
And that's the good news because they can do better in those areas
To be doing that poorly and still in the playoff race means they can get better quickly and make it to the postseason

Kings are now approaching the same number of OT/SO losses as regulation losses. Impressive.

Kings are now OUT of a playoff position. Also, the best the Kings can do on this home stand is 2-2-3. 7 out of a possible 14 points. That's IF they beat Calgary on Monday. Good luck.

They can, doesn't mean they will. The team has talked for how long now about needing to improve the PK, have better focus, things like that? It hasn't happened.

According to NHL.com, Quick has the 2nd worst save percentage in the PK for goalies who have played at least 30 games at 82.4% The only goalie who's worse is Jonas Hiller at a 78%

They dedicated an entire practice to specialty teams and shootouts. That didn't work.

Mitchell, Voynov, Regher have left a big whole this season. Guys like Brown, Richards, Carter et al should have stepped up their game to help relieve the pressure on the new D but didn't. I expect a big name leaving town sooner rather then later as this team has become embarrassing most nights (not tonight so much except the SO)

Continuing my stats train, here is the Kings record in the past 30 games, broken up into 10 game segments

November 12th Through December 2nd: 5-3-2
December 4th Through December 22nd: 4-4-2
December 27th Through This game: 3-3-4

This team is getting progressively worse. They have 15 home games left this season. Their road winning percentage is 26.3% (5 wins/19 games). How exactly is this team going to get it together in time to make the playoffs?

If the kings had won one more they hold a playoff spot.
Half and they are alone in second in the Pacific.
