just suggestions. who would you consider?

Not sure. I posted earlier about the best offense options all being SS who will likely be seeking long, expensive contracts. I'm not against signing big FA contracts but I don't want to do it just to do it, it has to actually benefit the club as much as possible. Not sure a long term expensive SS is what we need.

neither do i but as we're at least 2 years away from having a SS prospect ready we could sign someone like Story to a multi-year contract and then do a trade for quality prospects when one or more of the prospects is ready.

well hopefully we are going to take a long look at our prospects next year, so a lot of them should be in play. like Huff, Jung, Walker, Solak, Garcia, Taveras, Ibanez, Allard, Dunning, Hearn, Howard, Bahr, Barlow, Benjamin, Cody, King etc. we should only be looking at maybe 1 pitcher, 1 1st Baseman and maybe a SS
I was thinking Corner OF instead of 1B
With Nate Lowe, Curtis Terry and Sam Huff

just my opinion here, but the idea of signing a guy to a big contract with the intent of attempting to flip him for quality prospects is very risky and most likely would not work out. Unless we're ok with the Rangers covering a chunk of the salary, which I really am not.

Moving guys to the outfield like we did with Gallo is one way to utilize more guys.

Yeah, flipping a guy like that probably doesn't work very well. The guys to trade in that instance would be the prospects.

Howard scheduled to make his Rangers debut tomorrow.
Wish I could see his debut. He will probably be an important piece of the rotation for years to come. Not long ago this guy was a major major prospect.

i put him slightly ahead of Dunning for staff "ace." But it's so close they needed to review it in NY.
But why? His ERA is literally a run higher and Dunning has a WAR 1.5 higher in a similar number of innings than Allard

eyeball test and my opinion of their potential. I think Allard has better stuff is mostly why.

IMO Dunning will be better.
Allard has low k/9 and Dunning has a decent k/9. I could see Dunning progressing ahead and being very dominant and raising his k/9 and lowering his ERA into the mid 3s
With Allard I feel he will never be below 4.20 ERA in a full season.

Hopefully, when they reach their potential, the question won't be about who is the "ace," but who slots in as the 4 and who slots in as the 5. Hopefully, Winn and a couple of others, at least, pushes them down in the pecking order. Then maybe when we trade for an ace and Leiter is ready, one or both of them goes to the pen.

RE: Allard and Dunning

It's kind of like that "bad runner, good runner" scenario. I think Dunning is closer to his full potential than Allard, who is 3 years younger. If Allard gets more polish and command, he'd be the better of the two. But to me they have both earned rotation spots in 2022, along with Lyles.
