The wife and I try to make a few AZL Rookie League games each year (Rangers/Royals stadium is 5 minutes from our house and Padres/Mariners stadium is about 20 minutes) so we went and watched the M's at Rangers tonight specifically to watch Jackson play. Top of second they hit a soft-line drive to RF and Jackson comes up on it and bends forward on his way to a head first dive. He must have lost it because it hit him square in the face bouncing/deflecting about 20 feet towards the centerfielder. He was down for at least 5 minutes and was carted off. The cart drove right passed us and it looked like he was more embarrassed at that point.

So our long awaited trip to watch him last 1 1/3rd innings. I bet he prefers catching right about now.

That was my first thought when he went by us on the cart. I felt bad because he was like 5 feet from us sitting on the back of the cart feeling his nose and I was like grinning at him. It was a bad play that he caught with his face instead of his glove.

Similar thing happened to a guy i played with in high school......he blamed it on the sun....if anyones played baseball in the spring in Washington,,,,,,knows damn well there wasn't any sun out there.

I did play a lot of baseball in Washington. Never did I lose a ball in the sun....clouds maybe, but not the sun.

I was at Jackson's game and it was hit right at him on a low, arcing semi-line drive. When he went down to slide is when he lost it. He never even had time to move his head. It went right by his glove and off his face.

Line drives you can lose it in Mt. Rainier though.

I loved the OF. I could run like the wind and throw lasers from anywhere to home. Funny thing was, I couldn't throw heat as a pitcher. My coach tried me after seeing my arm in the outfield and nothing. I could throw strikes all day long, but BP speed. Basketball was my game though, but now I can barely touch the net and am too slow to keep up with the kids. I can still back them down in the post though...lol. With age comes weight.
